Author of 25 books, Dick Kirby has also contributed to a large number of anthologies other true-crime books and is widely quoted.

Additionally, he contributes to magazines and newspapers on a regular basis and appears on television and radio.  Usually, this is in connection with the Flying Squad but he can also be relied upon to castigate politically correct, vapid senior police officers and their inability to keep the streets safe.

With a bare two years in the rank of detective constable, Kirby was selected for the prestigious Serious Crime Squad and spent the next five years catching international crooks from all over the world. ‘The Sweeney’ – the Yard’s élite Flying Squad - was his home for eight years where he dealt with the most formidable and violent armed robbers.
